UK Immigration Changes 6 April 2015 Affects Tier 2 Visas

Please see below for a summary of the changes to the Tier 2 visas from the 6th of April 2015.

Key changes to Tier 2 visas include:

  • the 12-month cooling off period will no longer apply to Tier 2 migrants assigned a Certificate of Sponsorship for three months or fewer. This is an extremely welcome change which will greatly benefit businesses requiring overseas assignees in the UK for short periods at intervals of fewer than 12 months;
  • for intra-company transfers, the qualifying 12 months prior employment may include time spent lawfully employed by a group company in the UK as well as overseas; and
  • the annual minimum salary thresholds for Tier 2 have increased by 1.2%.
